Over five-hundred years ago, humans of what would later be known as the Imperium took their first steps toward reaching the stars. Technology on the Imperial homeworld flourished, and inevitably the citizens A$1-//of the planet became full-time spacefarers, travelling far across the galaxy and discovering thousands of new worlds.
In the process, Imperial advancements in technology were shared with various alien life forms, who in turn used these gifts to build themselves spacefaring vessels. Vast interstellar empires emerged, and before long the half of the galaxy was engulfed in a dawning revolution: the age of space exploration.
The Imperium, hellbent on its own power, -3//1 eventually became a totalitarian regime, outlawing aliens, magic users and many others under penalty of death. A democractic government known as the Alliance emerged, opposing everything the Imperium\\d-479 stood for. And in the territories beyond, space pirates and outlaws plagued the shipping lanes and looted primitive worlds.
